"Mommy - I'm a Matician!"

Kennedy: "Mommy, do you want to see me make my toys disappear?"

Me: "Yes! I would love to!"

Kennedy takes a blanket and lays it over her toys. She looks at me to see if I'm watching closely and then tries to sneak her toys out from underneath the blanket and hides them quickly behind her back. Then, she rips the blanket off.....

Kennedy: "And now my toys have disappeared!!"

Me: "Wow - what a great trick!"

Kennedy: "Yes... I'm a matician!"

I try not to laugh... I'm very proud that she knows what a magician is!

Me: "Yes, you are a talented maGician!"

I try to sound out the "g" for her so she'll hear the difference.

Kennedy: "Yes, I am a matician."

Me: "Magician."

Kennedy: "Right.. that's what I said. Matician."

Baby's First Picture

This weekend, Brady had his 6-week picture taken. Seeing my little boy light up the room with this smile just melted my heart...
He is a spitting image of his sister at this age. Having a second child has opened my eyes to a new side of Kennedy, our daughter, who will be four next week. The past two years, she has grown so fast and our lives has been so busy that I hadn't noticed what a BIG girl she really is. Having a newborn in the house reminded me that it wasn't that long ago that Kennedy was his size. The first year of her life was a blur - probably because Chris and I had NO idea what we were doing. We were lucky to survive. The second year was a blast and I remember thinking, "When will I be able to have a conversation with her?" Well now, at nearly four years old, she talks non-stop! Life moves quickly and if we don't stop to take in the small moments we have with our friends and family.... we will look back and wonder where our lives have gone.

I am blessed to have two wonderful children, a husband who loves me despite all my faults, and friends who I can't live without.

Is it raining?

No... it wasn't raining today. I just got a little PEE shower!

Brady, sweet baby boy, decided that it would be a good time to poo when we were taking Kennedy to school. So I walked Kennedy to her class, then got B out of his carseat and sprawled him out in the back of the LaPierre family SUV... luckily I had backed into the parking spot and was against a brick wall so not everyone could see his "special parts." I realized that I didn't have any wipes in the diaper bag. So I dug through the car. Again, luck was on my side. I had some antibacterial wipes in the console of the car. Whew! So this was a four-wipe diaper... yowsa! Little booger kept kicking his "special parts" which got poo on his heels. Aaaahhh! Frustration! Wipe booty, wipe heel, wipe booty, wipe heel. Okay... he's all cleaned up... when low-and-behold... something wet! My luck ran out. Tee tee!! Yup... the only thing I could do was step out of the way and let him pee. I had NOTHING to cover the lovely shower. Pee rolled down the back bumper...

Ten minutes later, we are all cleaned up, naked baby in the carseat and mom has pee on her flip flop. What a morning!

Our Family is Now Bigger...

Welcome to my blog! I used to blog when Kennedy was a baby. I am now wishing I had kept up with it because I could use my own parenting tips these days! Our second child, Brady, is five weeks old. I've said this several times in the last few weeks, but I truly believe that God lovingly allows us to forget all the difficult things about the first several weeks of a child's life... because otherwise, many parents would only have ONE child!

Juggling two children is not easy. I'm sure as Brady becomes a little more independent, it will be easier. But for now - it's insane! Kennedy wants the same amount of attention she got before and feeding a baby every three hours just doesn't allow for that. Chris and I both make sure we spend quality time with her everyday - either reading her a story, playing games at bath time, or giving Roscoe a treat.

Each day will get easier, I'm sure. It HAS to! If not, look for me in the looney bin!
